Waiblingen, December 14, 2023. Syntegon wrapped up the year with a wishing tree drive at its Remshalden and Waiblingen sites, a joint initiative with the children’s relief association Kinderschutzbund Waiblingen/Schorndorf e.V. Employees brought joy to local underprivileged kids in keeping with the initiative’s motto, Verpacken für einen guten Zweck. (Verpacken means both packaging and wrapping in German). This is the third year running that the campaign has taken place, with the number of gifts again increasing.
The end of the year is approaching, and with it the season of giving. Unfortunately, many children’s Christmas wishes go unfulfilled. Syntegon employees had the opportunity to do something about that as part of the "Packaging for a good cause" campaign. Each participant was asked to choose a wish, get a present, and – of course – wrap it up it up nicely.
On December 12, Syntegon Waiblingen site manager Markus Reitz and Jens Baumbach, deputy site manager at Remshalden, presented 120 gifts to the Deutscher Kinderschutzbund and the town of Schorndorf. "It is wonderful that we will yet again be able to make many children happy at Christmas with Syntegon’s help," says Katja Großmann from the Deutscher Kinderschutzbund Waiblingen/ Schorndorf e.V. The presents included games, books, and clothing. There were also a number of gift certificates, "because many children love choosing their own presents," says Beate Härer, head of the Schorndorf municipal Social Affairs and Senior Citizens department. As a partner of the Kinderschutzbund, the Schorndorf town hall will distribute the gifts to families for children to receive in time for Christmas.
“The wishing tree drive is right in line with our mission statement, processing and packaging for a better life," says Markus Reitz, site manager at the Waiblingen plant. "We are delighted to see our employees so committed to fulfilling children's Christmas wishes." Jens Baumbach, deputy site manager at Remshalden, adds, "In the run-up to Christmas, it is so important for us to bring joy to young people in the region. Our colleagues' efforts made that happen."
