For many years, Syntegon Technology has been testing a wide variety of packaging materials at its test laboratory in Beringen, Switzerland.
In principle: Every product and every process is different. For this reason, it is worth investigating all parameters in detail to make sure the packaging solution takes brand targets, product protection and sustainability into account.
The principle objective of the waste hierarchy is to prevent waste and the consequent waste of raw materials. We can achieve this by using thinner films, which will save material during production and reduce waste in the long-term.
Films made from mono-material
With heat-resistant composites, the sealing of mono-material film is unproblematic; but in the case of heat-sensitive mono-materials, this can easily lead to defective seals and damaged products. With new technologies, like the Amplified Heat Sealing Technology (AHS), longer sealing times can be achieved which is especially important for mono-material films.
Paper as an alternative
With paper being recylable and biodegradable, it is very popular material with both manufacturers and consumers. A very thin plastic barrier layer provides the necessary product protection.
