Baked Goods: Frozen Pastries

Project Description

The customer for this project is a US-based industry leader in developing and producing a variety of bakery products for businesses. For their frozen pastries packaging line they were looking for a fully automated system, eliminating hand-packing operations. Products, such as frozen croissants, are very delicate and require gentle product handling as well as high sanitation standards. The customer plans to package different frozen pastries on one line. Therefore, the new solutions had to be highly flexible in order to accommodate many different shapes.

Our Technical Solution:

The frozen pastries pass through row conditioning and a spreading conveyor.
RPP delta robots pick from the mass flow belt supported by a camera-based vision system and place the pastries into the flow wrapper infeed chain. This chain runs perpendicular to the RPP.
A Pack 202 flow wraps the pastries in single flow packs. Afterwards they pass through a check-weigher.
Delta robots of the second RPP cell pick the flow packs and place them directly into shipment cases, which are formed and sealed automatically.
