In sterile manufacturing, the new Annex 1, accurate dosing of high-value drugs such as new biologics and cell and gene therapies, as well as high-volume production of obesity drugs or blood plasma derivatives are at the top of the agenda. For oral solid dosage forms, the focus is on rapid product development with minimum use of active ingredients and the transfer to production scale using batch or continuous manufacturing, including direct compression. The entire pharmaceutical industry is further facing the challenge of reducing its CO2 footprint and making its facilities fit for the future in the long term.
