It was only just launched at Achema and has already won an award: the new Settle Plate Changer SPC 1000 from Syntegon has received the German Packaging Award in the packaging machines category.
For the fifth time in a row, the German Packaging Institute (Deutsches Verpackungsinstitut e.V.) has honored Syntegon with the German Packaging Award. This year, it went to the patented Settle Plate Changer (SPC) for automated viable monitoring in the aseptic filling process. With this innovative solution, which significantly minimizes contamination risks, Syntegon supports pharmaceutical manufacturers in complying with the latest Annex 1 guidelines.
The jury selected a total of 41 winners from almost 250 entries from 13 countries. In the packaging machines category, the Settle Plate Changer scooped one of the prestigious awards. “This prize shows that we understand the pharmaceutical industry and offer our customers exactly the solutions they need. This was also confirmed by the great interest shown at Achema,” says a delighted Muhammed Ali Turac, Project Manager Automation at Syntegon Service, who played a key role in the development of the SPC.
Annex 1-compliant thanks to automated viable monitoring
Continuous monitoring of pharmaceutical production has become even more important with the new EU GMP Annex 1. This also includes viable monitoring during sterile product filling. Settle plates may be exposed to cleanroom air for a maximum of four hours and must then be replaced. The automated Settle Plate Changer significantly reduces manual operator intervention to replace the plates. This greatly decreases the necessary production interruptions and the negative impact on machine availability and minimizes human intervention in the process zone. The Settle Plate Changer is available both with the purchase of a new machine and as a retrofit for existing equipment. It can also be seamlessly integrated into all third-party machines and control systems.

With this award, the German Packaging Institute (dvi) annually recognizes innovative and creative packaging ideas from seemingly small but groundbreaking details through to fundamental innovations.
