Due to their structure, both their production and their packaging present challenges – and gentle handling in combination with the right speed is vital.

With automated Syntegon system solutions, the cookies, biscuits or crackers are grouped and loaded depending on the properties of the respective product. They are either precisely counted by an innovative count feeder, grouped by a high-speed measuring feeder or handled by our gentle pick-and-place solutions.

The products are quickly placed on-edge into trays or into the infeed of a flow wrapper. Flexibility is paramount here: a cookie rarely comes alone, and different packaging formats can be handled easily with our flexible equipment. Quick and easy cleaning ensures compliance with the most stringent hygiene standards, even with crumbly products.

Package round cookies gently on-edge in trays or in flow wraps

Count feeder

Central to this highly automated system is the new Syntegon count feeder. It groups different types of round cookies in the correct product count and loads them gently into trays or into the infeed chain of a flow wrapper

Key information:

Count feeder: Up to 3,600 cookies per minute
Flow wrapper with infeed: Up to 350 packs and 40 meters film speed per minute
Endload cartoner with infeed: Up to 150 cartons per minute (12”) and up to 170 cartons per minute (9”)
Sideload case packer: Loads up to 160 packs into 20 cases per minute

This system solution addresses industry challenges like labor shortage and cost pressure. It is a highly automated packaging line prioritizing speed, flexibility, and gentle handling.

Measuring loader

The system solution features particularly gentle handling and hygienic design within a small footprint. Central to this solution is the innovative measuring feeder in combination with energy-efficient and low-noise vibratory channels.

Key Information:

Flow wrapper with infeed: Up to 400 slug packs per minute
Format changes: Switch from long to short slugs and vice versa within ten minutes
Sealing Technology: Tight packs with Amplified Heat Sealing, suitable for mono-material

This solution can be configured as a highly automated turnkey solution with fully integrated cartoning and case packing options. The system combines speed with low waste levels and optimal airtight packs to provide for long shelf life.

Smart Duplex Measuring Loader

This proven technology supports gentle handling and reliable output thanks the Smart Duplex Measuring Loader in combination with the latest generation of vibratory channels and the fully integrated flow wrapper. The dual drop feature allows to drop two slugs at a time and handles different shapes and styles of cookies flexibly.

Key Information:

Flow wrapper with infeed: Up to 250 slugs per minute
Sealing technology: paper-ON-form available for paper film forming and sealing

Thanks to the Smart Duplex Measuring Loader in combination with the fully integrated flow wrapper the system has a continuous and reliable output. The option to switch between conventional material to paper packaging adds to its flexibility. In addition, the system can be complemented with cartoning and case packing machines from the Syntegon portfolio.

Package round or square crackers and biscuits on-edge or flat in flow wraps

Flexible line with vibratory channels

Flexibility is enabled by the integration of linear motor technology. Syntegon has extensive experience in applying linear motors to the packaging process. The technology is very robust, allows for a highly compact design and offers important benefits such as flat and on-edge pack styles on the same machine, quick format changes as well as advanced gentle handling.

Key Information:

Vibratory channel capacity: Up to 10,000 crackers or biscuits
Flow wrapper (flat stacked): Up to 270 pile packs in various formats per minute
Flow wrapper (on-edge slug): Up to 145 slug packs in various formats per minute

This solution is ideal for manufacturers who process large quantities of crackers or plain biscuits. The system offers robust technology and great flexibility on a small footprint. To complete the system and benefit from a fully automated solution, Syntegon offers a range of endload and topload cartoning options as well as RSC and wraparound case packers.

Flexible line with flat conveyor belt

Key Information:

Product infeed flat on belts: 1,600 products per minute
Flow wrapper (flat stacked): Up to 320 pile packs per minute in various formats
Flow wrapper (on-edge slug): Up to 95 slug packs per minute in various formats

This system is ideal for manufacturers who produce very delicate cookies, crackers or biscuits. The products may be very thin or brittle, such as gluten-free biscuits. Advanced gentle handling reduces breakage and product loss. To complete the system and to benefit from a fully automated solution, Syntegon offers a range of endload and topload cartoning options as well as RSC and wraparound case packers.

Innovative and highly compact pick-and-place solution for on-edge or flat packaging

Linear motor picker line

This pick-and-place solution takes proven linear motor technology to the next level. Four pack styles can be produced on one highly compact system: pile configurations in trays or in flow wraps and slug configurations in trays or in flow wraps.

Key Information:

Product infeed: Up to 1,500 products per minute in a random pattern on the infeed belt
Pick-and-place: Picker bar with up to 40 vacuum grippers in one row, precisely controlled by linear motors. Single and double pick possible
Sealing Technology: Tight packs with Amplified Heat Sealing, suitable for mono-material
Film speed: Up to 60 meters per minute

The system is interesting for manufacturers with limited production space and high requirements in terms of gentle handling. Linear motors ensure smooth movements to minimize product breakage, while the up to 40 vacuum grippers handle sensitive products gently. Manufacturers can adjust the number of pickers to accommodate the width of the conveyor belt or changes in production volume. All machines, including cartoning and case packing, combined to a seamless Syntegon system provide very high levels of efficiency on a small footprint.
