Waiblingen, Germany – Since the in-person PACK EXPO International and Healthcare Packaging EXPO have been cancelled, the process and packaging technology specialist Syntegon is presenting its latest solutions at the virtually-hosted PACK EXPO Connects from November 9 to 13, 2020. In a series of video and Q&A sessions, Syntegon is showcasing its intelligent and sustainable technologies for the pharmaceutical and food industries – including customer services and digital solutions. Visitors can now register for PACK EXPO Connect sessions free of charge. The recordings of the Syntegon sessions remain online until March 2021.

Processing and packaging technology for a better life – an appropriate mission

Due to COVID-19, major industry events and trade shows have been cancelled all over the world. This has not discouraged Syntegon from engaging with its international customers in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Quite the contrary: PACK EXPO Connects marks the second online event for Syntegon this year after their own virtual trade show in May. In times like this, the company is more determined than ever to improve the lives of consumers and patients by offering brand owners intelligent and sustainable solutions, including customer services and digital solutions.

Food exhibits: focus on sustainable solutions

For the food industry, Syntegon is showcasing its primary and secondary packaging portfolio, with a focus on sustainable solutions. In flow wrapping and bagging, Syntegon machines can run fully recyclable mono-material films and paper films. Carton blanks made from recycled fibres or grass fibre can be processed on their secondary and transport packaging equipment. American debut of Syntegon's Kliklok ACE:
The Kliklok Advanced Carton Erector was developed in close cooperation with customers. It was built with flexibility, ergonomics and speed in mind. The machine uses locks, glue or ultrasonic sealing to form a wide range of carton sizes. The carton hopper is low for easy and safe carton loading. Positive carton control is provided by the new patented flex feeder.

Highly flexible range of case packers:
Syntegon's Elematic 2001 is a configurable case packer that features a compact footprint and offers maximum flexibility in terms of pack styles. With speeds of up to 40 cases per minute and an infeed of 600 products per minute, it is one of the fastest and most flexible case packers available on the market.

Cutting-edge technology for sustainable bar packaging:
This fully automated seamless bar system features the paper-ON-form upgrade kit for paper flow wrapping with cold sealing technology. The bar system stands out for its format flexibility, fast changeovers and advanced gentle handling – from product distribution to end of line packaging.

Highly flexible topload cartoning platform:
Syntegon's TTM topload cartoner stands out for its product and pack style flexibility. The TTM platform consists of standardized modules that can be tailored to specific needs. It recently received an upgrade: new technological features were added for advanced gentle handling.

Osgood S- and UC-Series – hygienic filling and sealing:
The servo-driven Osgood S- and UC-Series are ideal filling and sealing solutions for liquid or chunky dairy and food products, such as gourmet salads, soups and dips. The S-Series offers hygienic filling of up to 60,000 pre-formed cups and containers per hour, while the Osgood UC-Series is built for ultra-clean applications. It utilizes advanced sanitizing technology to extend the shelf life of refrigerated foods, achieving output rates of up to 57,600 cups per hour.

Hygienic high-speed vertical bagger for frozen food:
The SVC 4020 hybrid bagger offers full flexibility: high-speed continuous motion for smaller weights and intermittent motion for larger weights in big bags. The new PHS 2.0 sealing system uses less film material, thus reducing costs and material consumption. Changeovers are fast and easy, while the machine’s hygienic design facilitates access and cleaning – from dry wipe down to wash down.

Future-proof hygienic endload cartoner:
Syntegon’s Kliklok MEC endload cartoner meets the highest hygiene standards: It features an open-channel design with angled surfaces and an IP65-compliant stainless steel frame. Tool-less, repeatable changeovers can be completed in 10 to 12 minutes. Other user-friendly benefits include an HMI 4.0 touchscreen, as well as easy access to and full visibility of the entire machine.

High-speed cracker handling and flow wrapping solution:
This cracker system features gentle handling and hygienic design all within a small footprint. Its fully automated, new amplified heat sealing technology allows for extended sealing times and is suitable for mono-material films in particular. Changeovers from short to long slugs can be completed within 10 minutes, offering maximum flexibility and a vertical startup.

Hygienic feeding and flow wrapping for frozen foods:
Syntegon's new wash-down infeed and feeder solutions – paired with the Pack 403 HE flow wrapper – are ideal for fresh and frozen products. The Pack Feeder HE and Pack Infeed HE feature an open, stainless steel and corrosion-resistant polymer design with sloped surfaces as well as food-grade motors to withstand harsh foam-and-rinse cleaning. Machine components can be removed without tools.

Syntegon SVE 2520 DZ

Flexible vertical bagger for reclosable stand-up bags:
The SVE 3220 DZ can process fully recyclable mono-material films into the most popular bag styles, ranging from pillow packs and corner sealed bags to Doy Zip bags of up to 320 millimeter in height. The bottom gusset punch unit offers more material flexbility for Doy and Doy Zip bag styles in particular.

Pharmaceutical exhibits: long-standing processing and packaging expertise

The modular Pharmatec SVP process system stands out for its competencies in processing small volume liquid pharmaceuticals. Thanks to a wide choice of more than 70 functional modules, the SVP can be configured individually for batch sizes ranging from 8 to 3,000 liters. AIM 3000 for maximum inspection accuracy:
Parenteral drugs administered in ampoules and vials, such as insulin or hormone therapies, must be of the highest purity. Particles in the product or container defects are not acceptable. Hence, in addition to sophisticated filling technology advanced inspection technology is essential. The AIM 3000 automatic inspection series utilizes high resolution CMOS cameras with high-speed interfaces to detect particles and cosmetic container defects. An optional module offers 100 percent container closure integrity testing (CCI).

Highly flexible tablet press for medium and large batches:
Syntegon’s TPR 500 tablet press combines high productivity and quality with usability. It is equipped with a “True Flow” tablet discharge chute that features an easy-to-clean pneumatic gate mechanism and an optimized take-off angle, significantly reducing product damage and increasing output. Automated packaging solution for medical devices:
Syntegon’s medical device packaging solution handles products safely thanks to the integrated FANUC robot arm. The products are protected by locked guards until they are fed into the Pack 202 flow wrapper. The machine’s PLC verifies incoming products, prints essential product information onto each pack, and verifies that information using a vision system. Unverified or defective packs are rejected automatically.

Services and digital solutions round off Syntegon’s PACK EXPO Connects exhibits

Syntegon is also presenting solutions from their new Service and Digital Solutions business unit, namely the remote service assistant, the Digital Shopfloor solutions, upgrade kits for Kliklok controls and upgrades for Kliklok and Woodman machines – two Syntegon brands.


Remote Service Assistant:

Syntegon’s remote service assistant is a hands-free solution that enables remotely located experts to guide maintenance technicians using augmented reality on a computer or mobile device.

Digital Shopfloor Solutions:

The online PACK EXPO Connects event is organized by PMMI and runs from November 9 to 13.
