Satisfied employees do good work. Feeling valued and being asked about their needs is a major contributor. A good reason for Syntegon to conduct its first employee survey under the new brand name in the fall of 2021. It generated very positive results: the engagement in the company is above average.
Around 4,200 employees, or 70 percent of the total staff, took part in the survey. They were asked questions about nine topics and provided valuable information on the company development. The high engagement rate of 72.6 percent is particularly satisfying. It shows how many employees are motivated to work for and belong to Syntegon. This figure is also remarkable when compared to other companies in the international special machinery sector: the average value in the industry is below 70 percent.

"Our employees show a lot of commitment
to the company and enjoy their job"
Global Expert Change Management & Culture Development
“The first survey after the transition from Bosch Packaging to Syntegon gives us great satisfaction. Our employees show a lot of commitment to the company and enjoy their job,” says Carlos Salgado, Global Expert Change Management & Culture Development. One figure stands out in particular: 84 percent of employees are willing to go above and beyond to ensure Syntegon's success.
Corporate values are lived
Fairness, passion, reliability and future orientation – these are Syntegon's corporate values. The results of the survey clearly show that these values are also lived by the employees everyday. 76 percent of the respondents state that the employees support each other and praise the reliability in the workforce. Fairness is also rated positively at Syntegon: 71 percent confirm that colleagues are treated fairly regardless of their age, gender or cultural background.
In addition, 67 percent agree that their manager communicates goals, which they consider meaningful for their daily work. “It's great to see that our employees share our corporate goals and embody our mission ‘Process and Packaging Technology for a Better Life’ not only in customer projects but also in their work routine,” says Carlos Salgado.
Cooperation to be strengthened further
The respondents see potential for improvement in cross-departmental and cross-site collaboration. "We are working on breaking down the historically grown silos step by step," says Salgado. For example, interdisciplinary networks are to strengthen collaboration in the future. The next survey is already scheduled for 2022 in order to further shape the company's development. After that round, the survey will take place every two years.
